Have you ever wondered “how is a hot air balloon inflated?”
At the Albuquerque Balloon Festiva, I had many opportunities to witness the hot air balloons opening up. I filmed this one for you. It is amazing.
It should answer your questions like:
- How do they get the air in there?
- How many people does it take?
- How long does it take?
- When do they add the fire?
I hope you like it! They are posted in certain order so you get a sense of how they did it.
The third video is of the balloons at night. The night balloons was the highlight of my trip!
** One Note: In the video I called the officials “tigers”. They are “zebras”. I was so excited I got confused! 🙂

I’d love to travel to Albuquerque Balloon Festival looks like a lot of fun. I had the chance to go on a hot air balloon in Cappadocia Turkey and it is one of my favorite travel memories.

I tried to go to the balloon fiesta in 2014 and had such bad luck that the two sessions I had planned on attending, the wind was too strong for any launches. I’m hoping to try again next year.

Yes, I was worried that I’d travel all the way there and wouldn’t see anything. So glad weather was on our side, for the most part.

Interesting insight and gorgeous “animals” 🙂 When they put in the gas/fire, it kind of makes you vulnerable I’d imagine. Did you go in one yourself?
Notourguideneeded says
Yes, it was kind of scary. After I filmed it, I stepped back but most people didn’t seem to care. I went on a ride with a crew with one of the balloons, planning to go up. After we found a spot, the wind stopped. The balloons that were already up just hung there, so the pilot cancelled the trip. I’d rather stay on the ground than get stuck up in the air not moving, so I was good with that decision!

The balloon festival is so fascinating. That is so cool that you attended and watched the festivities up close. I hope to visit the ABQ festival one day.
